Ms Samantha van der Wijngaart

Sam started forPsych in 2011, when her family moved from Adelaide to Launceston, a coming home of sorts. She is an endorsed Forensic Psychologist with a breadth of experience working across forensic and general psychology.

Sam is a Fellow of the Australian Psychological Society College of Forensic Psychologists, and is currently on the national executive. She is a past president of the Tasmanian Branch of the Australian and New Zealand Association of Psychiatry, Psychology and Law. She has active memberships with several professional organisations related to aspects of forensic psychology practice, and is very active in pursuing professional development opportunities.

Sam provides assessments, reports and expert witness testimony for the courts. She has a particular interest in forensic matters pertaining to families and young people. Her master’s thesis considered Fitness to Stand Trial and was published in Psychology, Psychiatry and Law in 2012.

Her working life started with 12 years service in the Airforce, followed by employment in related industries. With this career experience came expertise and training in Information Technology, which culminated in qualifications in further education, and a second career as a training professional. Sam is a proud veteran.

Sam’s passion for training continues through providing seminars, workshops, training and supervision to psychologists. She is a Professional Member of the Australian Institute of Training and Development.

When she finds time to relax, Sam loves to get out into the bush, camping, fishing and sitting by the fire. She’s an avid Geocacher and enjoys travelling the world.

Tammy Fidler

Provisional Psychologist

Tammy joined the team in 2019 and is based in St Helens on the North East Coast. Tammy works with adults, children and families. For Tammy, the right support comes from a client-focused and person-centred framework.

Tammy integrates a variety of therapy solutions to help her clients and believes in providing them with psychoeducation and strategies they can use throughout their daily life. These enable Tammy’s clients to face everyday challenges and live the best life they can.

In her spare time, Tammy enjoys keeping active by spending time with her family and her fitness buddies. As a provisional psychologist, Tammy is continuously building on her knowledge and skill base and moving towards general psychologist registration.


Snowy Schnauzer

Snowy is the newest member of our team. Born in January 2020, Snowy has a lot of training to go before she is fully qualified as an Animal Assisted Therapy Dog. Snowy’s role will be to participate in sessions and to help everyone feel comfortable. By far the cutest and friendliest member of the team, Snowy is already an expert toy chaser, treat tester and door greeter.

Outside of her intensive training, Snowy likes to annoy her older sister, Schnapps the Schnauzer, and sleep in the sunlight.

Nikki Titmus

Client Manager & Therapy Assistant

Nikki started working with us in mid-2019, originally writing a documentation set. Since then, Nikki has become an essential part of the team, now working five days a week. Nikki is currently studying a Bachelor of Psychology and a Bachelor of Human Services, and takes opportunities to complete professional development related to child trauma and counselling.

Outside of work and study, Nikki uses her remaining five minutes a day to spend with her husband and cats. As a TA, Nikki works closely with psychologists to deliver their pre-defined programs and resources.


Kim Mitchell

Administration Support

Kim has been with forPsych for approximately four years, and enjoys dealing directly with our clients and referrers. Kim has long been the friendly voice on the phone when arranging our appointments. Kim works one day a week in our practice, and is also an audiometrist!

When not working, Kim enjoys camping, fishing and most of all chasing her grandchildren.


Monissa Whiteley

Administration Support

Monissa started with forPsych in 2012 and has been an integral part of the business almost since inception. Monissa’s strengths in the business are in managing data, problem solving and providing organisational support.

Outside of work, Monissa is a museum volunteer and an author, having been shortlisted for Harper Collins’ inaugural Banjo Prize in 2018.
